Good Harbor Holistic Veterinary Care is pleased to offer holistic veterinary medicine to pets in the greater Traverse City region. Dr. Lisa Melling provides both in-home/barn veterinary care as well as consultations by appointment in her office north of Cedar. The primary focus is maintaining and restoring your pet's health through the use of homeopathy, nutrition, and education on natural pet care. There is no need to drive your dog or cat to a clinic; simply relax in the comfort of your own home.
The approach to healing is a form of holistic healing called homeopathy, which uses small doses of natural remedies to return an injured or ill patient to health. Holistic health care means that we see the patient as a whole, rather than a diagnosis based on individual organ systems. Homeopathy respects the body's innate ability to heal itself, and provides the proper stimulation with small doses of remedies to alleviate symptoms and restore health. Dr. Lisa Melling received her veterinary degree in 2004 and has practiced homeopathy since 2008. She is a Certified Veterinary Homeopath and a faculty instructor with the Pitcairn Institute of Veterinary Homeopathy. Let her show you how improving your pet's nutrition and homeopathic treatment can be used in everything from injuries to skin allergies and cancer, without the need for long-term medications or the risks of side effects.
Are you looking for a holistic health care approach for your horse? Natural health care and homeopathy are not just for dogs and cats; this form of medicine works great on farm animals too - from chickens to horses, and can be used to treat injuries as well as acute and chronic illness. In addition to homeopathic treatment, each horse will also receive a comprehensive lifestyle assessment that includes husbandry issues such as feeding, stabling, and training.
Spring of 2019: Dr. Melling will be providing chiropractic care to dogs and horses! Dr. Melling has been apprenticing with equine chiropractor Dr. PJ Lenhard since July 2018 and will complete the Healing Oasis VSMT (veterinary chiropractic) training course in late spring 2019.

Accepting New PatientsDr. Melling is currently accepting new clients who are interested in holistic veterinary care for their pets, providing holistic veterinary care throughout the greater Traverse City area for dogs, cats, and farm pets ranging from chickens to horses. Appointment options include consultations in her office north of Cedar, or in-home/barn veterinary care.
In-home veterinary exams are especially useful for cats who do not like to travel, and for dogs that tend to be shy, anxious, or fear aggressive within the veterinary clinic. In-home veterinary care is also an invaluable service for terminally ill patients and those with impaired mobility. Our services are easier on pet parents who are home bound, elderly or physically impaired. |
